Overview
An animated 3D scene created for social augmented reality on Instagram and Facebook, inspired by Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451. A group of the novel’s “firemen” burn books, while one of them stands aside with a book in his hands, caught in a moment of hesitation.
The image reflects a familiar warning: when the destruction of knowledge and free thought becomes routine, people are often next.
Low-Poly Character Detail
The character model is kept lightweight for social AR, with detail carried through textures and normal maps. This approach preserves the folds and creases of the clothing while staying within strict scene budgets.
Rigged Action and Flame Pass
The characters were rigged and animated around the flamethrower action. The fire stream is built from seamless looping textures with an alpha channel, layered for density and motion without heavy simulation.
Scene Composition
The final shot brings the elements together: a pile of books in ash and firelight, surrounded by the burning crew. One figure reads beside the flames, leaving the moment unresolved—whether it ends in destruction or refusal.
